Welcome to Ditton Minors

Welcome to the Ditton Minors under 16's website which was launched at the beginning of the 2005/6 season. We hope to follow the fortune of the team, who began their campaign in the Invicta Primary League under 11's Division 1 and then in 2006/7 moved into the Maidstone Boys Primary League, in the  2008/09 season the boys won promotion from the under 14's Division 2 into under 15's Div 1. We now face the challenge of moving into the Maidstone Minor League under 16's. We hope that this website will keep you upto date with all the latest club news, results and match reports, but it needs your help, if you have any articles or news that you want everyone to see, simply speak to Team Manager Ian Dennison or Website Manager Nick Clarkson and we will endeavour to get it on the site.

Horsted Tournament Champions

Tournament Winners

Success at Horsted Youth FC tournament on Saturday 26 June 2010 on penalties.

A team had been entered at the last moment by coach Kevin Wilkinson into the Horsted tournament to help them out as they needed one more under 15's team, with Mitch Worsley unavailable, another keeper was asked but unfortunately was unable to attend on the morning for an 8.30am registration in Gillingham.
From David Henn, Ryan Cornelius, Jack Marshall, James Delaney, George Bunn, Tommy Tolhurst and C J Mahoney, Tommy was chosen to go in goal! With Nathan Lee then getting a bus to join them.

It was a long, hot morning with Ditton Minors equal first on points at the end of the morning with Lordswood 'A', both teams having 14 points, both with 3 wins, both scoring 4 goals, both conceding 1 goal and in the match between them it had ended 0-0!
First and second place needed to be decided on penalties. First would play Borstal 88, second would play Cliffe Wood Colts 'A', Ditton had drawn with both teams earlier but the game against Borstal had been 1-1 with David Henn equalising with the last kick of the game!

Lordswood went first and scored, David's penalty was saved, Lordswood scored, Nathan scored, Lordswood scored and won first place, against Borstal 88, Ditton would play Cliffe Wood Colts 'A'!

In the semi-final Ditton won 1-0 with a Jack Marshall goal, Lordswood & Borstal finished 1-1, no goals in extra time, they went to penalties, Lordswood had scored their 3, Borstal had scored 2 when the third taker stepped up but it was saved - Lordswood progressed to the final.

The final ended 0-0, at the end of extra time 0 - 0, penalties again! Both David and Nathan were not on the pitch at the end of play. For Lordswood this was their third penalty shoot out and they had won the previous two, they went first - scored, George buried Ditton's first, Lordswood's second sailed over the crossbar, Jack scored Ditton's second, pressure on Lordswood, Tommy made a great block, Ditton had won - a fantastic effort from all involved.

Chatham Colts 0-0 Ditton Minors

Millwall v Norwich 2010

This years annual pilgrimage to watch Millwall play on Saturday 6th Feb against top of the table Norwich was a great day out and a terrific victory for Millwall 2-1, even after going a goal down after 4 minutes. This year the under 9's and 15's went together and were lucky enough to get on the pitch as a guard of honour as the players came onto the pitch. The highlight however was the Lion's mascot "Zampa" handing a signed ball to Ian Dennison at half time in front of the Millwall faithful, sadly for Ian the ball was a fake and contained the mystery "Blue Vase". Many thanks to Ian and Kay and the Community team at Millwall for a great day out. To see more pictures from the day CLICK HERE
